Red. White and Blue -
These Colors Don't Run!
Veterans are the backbone of our nation. No words can ever really express our gratefulness for all they have done for us. Freedom simply is not free. It costs our veterans a huge amount of sacrifice. Sometimes it requires the ultimate sacrifice. The Bible says that no greater love has any man than to lay down his life for another.
In the beautiful song , The Battle Hymn of the Republic, I am remembering these words:
In the beauty of the lilies
Christ was born across the sea
with a glory in his bosom
that transfigures you and me.
As He died to make men holy,
Let us live to make men free.
His truth is marching on.
Our veterans have lived to make men free. They have given up comforts, family fellowhip and years of their lives. Of course, some valiant servicemen have died to make men free. There was a song a few years ago that had this phrase, referring to our veterans:
All gave some;
Some gave All.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!
Thinking of the tragic incident that took place in Fort Hood Army Base this week , I want to pray to our Heavenly Father.
First of all, Lord, help us be aware when there is "a snake in the grass"; when there is an enemy in our midst, who is lying low, undetected, until he is ready to strike.
And Dear God, please bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her and guide her.
God please forgive America.
God save America;
God have mercy upon America;
God bless America.
Thank you, Lord.
A grateful citizen,
Cynthia K.

Hi Cynthia. Your tribute to the veterans is so touching. I hadn't heard the words to those songs in so long and hearing them again you realize how amazing they are. Songs written so long ago and still stay so true. Thank you for sharing this today and your prayer for America. There can never be too many. It's touched me today to see so many people post about this great country of ours and our true heros.

Such a MEANINGFUL tribute...that we all who are true red blooded American's need appreciate.
ReplyDeleteI had two uncles and a brother who had served...and my granddaughter and her husband who ARE NOW serving ...and I am proud of them all.~
Our grandduaghter who is in the Air Force doing Radar Maintenence...( at the time ) has been over to Iraq and ( THANK GOD) back safely.
I have seen her go out of her way to shake the hands of her fellow ARMY and MARINE'S personnel who she see's have served over there...( via the pins they wear) ~~
THEY..she said, are the men & women who deserve our special apprecation in THIS war.
Her husband is leaving for Afghanistan in Jan. ~I don't have a good feeling about that at all.~~ Won't tell them that..but I am especially fearful for the personnel going over there RIGHT NOW.
Yes, we do need to pray faithfully EACH day for every single one of them.~~
Thank you again for your tribute.~~

Hi Cynthia. My name is Randy. Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. I read your post and was nearly in tears. I was stationed at Ft. Hood for four years, and I lived in Texas for 8 years. I do miss it sometimes. I was at Ft. Bragg, here in N. Carolina, this past weekend with my reserve unit. A few of us who had been deployed were talking about what we saw when we were over there. It wasn't pretty. It was the worst year of my life. It was the first Christmas away from my family. And I had a very dear friend here in the States die from diabetes. Thankfully, they have phone and internet access to communicate with friends and family, but, yes, they do give up way more than a lot of people realize. We need to support our troops everyday...not just veterans day. Thank you do much again. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cynthia, for stopping by my blog with your lovely comments. Also thank you for the lovely post on Veterans and for the prayers for not only my son, but for all of our Veterans. They have given so much as well as their families. I know that my daughter-in-law will certainly be glad when he comes home. He had to leave four days after their son was born for Iraq. I'm very grateful for the sacrifices they have all made for our freedom!
ReplyDeleteHello Cynthia, and thank you for visiting my blog... what a beautiful tribute this is... thank you for posting this... Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteMy religion is one of pacifism, but there are times, such as WWII, where someone must fight to save the innocent. Our veterans are very brave. I enjoyed your lovely tribute, especially the stanza from the Battle Hymn.
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing this post. I wish that I had did one on mine.
ReplyDeleteI love your site and thanks for stopping by mine.
Good luck with the candy entry

Thank you for your sweet coments about my little Dusty. I'm so glad he is better, it makes me feel so helpless when he is hurting, but it had to be done. That cyst would have kept on growing and he would have lost his tail, that would have been worse. He wags his tail constantly, I guess he's a happy doggie! This was a beautiful post that you wrote for Veteran's Day, they are the best and deserve our highest respect and praise. Thanks again, take care.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful post :) Besos, Rose
